I am happy to announce that YOUR response for the planned meeting was very positive, therefore now a call for abstracts and registration. Please go to www.cmc.uct.ac.za to register online.
Symposia: “Immunology of Health and Disease”
Venue: Cape Town
Date: Sunday 9th to Friday 14th March 2008
Invited speakers: 30–40
Total participants: 60-80
As one of the invited experts, we would like to welcome you to Cape Town. Transport from the airport, accommodation and all meals will be provided for you and your spouse as well as sightseeing excursions. The symposia will take place at an exceptionally interesting venue, Monkey Valley Beach Nature Resort www.monkeyvalleyresort.com for a nominal registration fee of US$ 300 per invited speaker and 600US$ per spouse. Others, interested to participate or attend (also on a daily basis) are invited to submit an abstract for possible oral or poster presentation.
Invited speakers to please submit your abstracts and transfer payment as soon as possible to finalize the program.
DEADLINE FOR SPEAKER ABSTRACT AND REGISTRATION: 30 October 2007.
Please use the following format:
Submission should be made preferably as an attached file by email (fbrombac@mweb.co.za) in MS Word. Spacing: single. Font style: Times New Roman throughout. Title: Bold, 14 point, centred; leave one line space after title. Authors and affiliation: normal 12 point, centred. Leave two line spaces. Text: No indents, 12 point, fully justified. Leave one line space to demarcate paragraphs. Fill the remainder of one A4 page or approx 400 words. An example is posted on our web site (www.uct.ac.za/depts/pgc). Notification of abstract acceptance will include any editorial instructions if necessary for final submission.
A few keynote speakers will give overviews. However,
the conference will focus on recent ongoing research with unpublished
oral presentations (15 to 20 min.) and discussions. General immunological mechanism with focus on T cell subsets, macrophages activation, cytokine regulation (of course including IL-4 and IL-13) as well as newest biotechnological approaches will be discussed. Major workshops include ‘Neglected Diseases’ with contributions on leishmaniasis, helminthic infections among them schistosomiasis, African trypanosomiasis as well as other pathogens as well as ‘Emerging strategies on drug therapy and vaccination’ with contributions on recombinant vectors and autovaccination. Non-infectious diseases include cancer, obesity, allergy among others.
We hope for highly productive scientific exchange and interaction leading to exciting collaborations and tight networking amongst the participants.
Having this meeting at one of the most remarkable spots in the Cape with vibrant social entertainment and rejuvenating activities I hope that we will achieve tight links, friendships and emerging future collaborative projects, exchanges and grants.
